acorn

This book opens up a gentle, kind space in our crowded world.

It creates a heartfelt place and an invitation to join in the play.

A collaboration by two women:  a young artist and an old writer living in Daylesford, Victoria

Caro Harvey

Here are some of the many, many drawings that fill my journals.  They have all come into being by my getting out of the way and giving the pencil her head.  In this process I have met characters brimming with feeling, sometimes I've been cautioned, often sweetly comforted but also, I have to confess, some have mercilessly mocked me.

Caro's drawings delight me as they bubble up from that eternal somewhere we all visit if we risk a protracted pause or two.  Being a wordy tyke, I hear her visions speak, but I hope my voices invite your own stories too.  We are swimming along together in this life after all.

Quotes

Kristen Proud, Squishy Minnie Bookstore

"Acorn is one of those truly unique picture books, as much for adults as children with intricate pencil drawings that capture your full attention and a small number of words that help you explore your thoughts and feelings about the pages in front of you.

It is stunning and provides an opportunity for the reader to pause, ponder and embrace."
